Plenty of Redlands is on city sewer — but if you are in South Redlands, out toward Live Oak Canyon, San Timoteo Canyon, or on one of the older estate lots, chances are you are on septic, and many of those systems have been in the ground for decades.
Older Redlands systems need a closer eye: original tanks from the 60s and 70s are smaller than what code requires today, and mature landscaping means roots find their way into everything. Regular pumping every 2–3 years keeps solids out of the leach field and gives us a chance to catch cracked lids, failing baffles, or root intrusion before they turn into real money.
